hey,

i've got an portable (compaq presario 2100), but the upgrading of my bios failed. the computer was completely dead.
so i soldered out my bios chip and i want to replace it with a new chip
(i think the old one was broken)
i"ve got the data-file for reprogram it. so i am going to reprogram my bios with my microcontroller.
now my question is, on wich adres in the bios chip do i begin to write?
is it from the first memory adress or from another adres?
thanks

The size of the bios image should match the size of the EEPROM chip. If the size is different, then you are in trouble.

If size is right, then there is no other alternative than 00H.

I was of the opinion that the comcrap & HP computers could be flashed
by switching the switch 1 to on & the bios update on the floppy left in
the drive, it just ran without the graphics & beeped so many times when
the flash was done.
Been a while but i'm sure I bought one back to life that way when I found
the destructions on the HP web sight.
Don't shoot me if i'm wrong though, it was about 5 years ago.

i have now a new problem,

i let my bios chip reprogram and solderd back on my motherboard,
but if i plug on the ac adapter the notebook immediatly start up, and stops immediatly with booting,
just the on/off led begins to blink. and i do not know what that means that blinking, and the unhelpful people at hp doesn't know eather (very strange, they build the systems but don't know what is does)
