How can I load a program on a mini notebook computer if there is no CD rom drive? I am looking into a mini-notebook, and as I understand they will run any program, but I wonder how I can load a program on it that comes on a CD rom if there is no CD rom drive? Do I have to attach the CD Rom drive externally?

Yes, you use an external CDROM connected through USB.

more specifically, external usb based CD drives can only be connected to USB 2.0 or faster usb ports.
they won't work or work very slowly if they're connected to usb 1.1 ports.
check to make sure your mini-notebook pc uses usb 2.0 ports or higher.
