Hi, maybe this is too specific a question for here, but I am trying to flash my Dell for Merom (Core 2 Duo mobile) compatibility. The new chip works, but only runs at 1GHz (it is a 2.13 chip). I'm trying to upgrade to the newest Dell bios, but doing it in Windows gives me a hardware not supported error. I've tried -forceflash with CD and floppy boot disks, to no avail. It loads and just sits there, and I get the message:

Flash BIOS Upgrade Program - Version A02
Dell, etc...

Usage: MP061A02

And nothing happens. WTF?

I'm considering pulling it, replacing the original Yonah, flashing it, then putting the Merom back in. But that's a lot of time and effort.

Any ideas?

TIA.

This is what they list as option for the Inspiron 9400:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5600 (2MB Cache/1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (4MB Cache/2.00GHz/667MHz FSB)

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7400 (4MB Cache/2.16GHz/667MHz FSB)

Which one are you trying to fit? The 2.13 makes no sense. If it is something different I fear it isn't going to work with the new bios either. If it is the T7400, indeed fit the original Yonah, flash the bios and try again.

Yeah, it's 2.16 not 2.13. T7400.

And you have the A00 bios right now? Then put back the old CPU before flashing.
