I have this old desktop and it has become unstable. Upon some research I found that I need a BIOS udpate.

My Desktop's information as identified by BIOSAgentPlus Version: 2.2009.2.11:

BIOS Type: Award
BIOS Date: March 11th 2002
BIOS ID: 03/11/2002-VT8366-VT8233-6A6LVF09C-00-None
BIOS OEM: Version VHA43 - 6.00 PG
Chipset: VIA 82C3099 rev 0
SuperIO: Winbond 627F/HF rev 7 at port 002E
Manufacturer: System Manufacturer
Motherboard: Product Name

Thanks a lot in advance.

FIC AN11 or AN11 Stealth. You already have the latest bios. You may want to check if you have bad capacitors

Even though they show leaking caps, only a slight bulge on top indicates you may have the same problem. Getting the dust out of your fans helps too as does a good cleanup of your windows install.

Thanks edwin. I'll check the capacitors and clean the fan. I've done some cleaning of my windows install already.

BIOSAgentPlus indicates that there is a new BIOS version available but wants to charge $30 to provide me the link.

BTW, it is an AMD Athlon 1700 system, not sure if that figures in finding the right BIOS upgrade. Thanks.

Ofcourse they do, that is what they sell, commercial bios upgrades.

I already identified what brand and model mainboard is used in your system and also found you are already using the last bios released by the manufacturer (FIC from Taiwan).

used ccleaner yet?
