I tried to flash my AMI bios whom details are shown below:
The manufacturer of my motherboard is TOP GUN a pcchips motherboard
My Pc is a old Pentium I 166 MMX.
released BIOS: 11/26/1997 S
S3 86C775/86C785 *** VIDEO Bios Version 1.0.1-04-50/55
AMI plug and play version 1-0A
AMERICAN Megatrends Inc
long strings at the bottom of the screen:
51-0505-001437-00111111-071595-M1531/43-001_10_-H,
I downloaded a new version according an advise of ami support on the site: www.pcchipsusa.com and on the link:
http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q39981 ... ctype.html
but after severals tries, i have a black screen, and it 's impossible to have acces to the disks
does anybody has a solution?

when removed the bios from the board i could read this:
M5819P A1 so i assume that it was M581 on pcchips!!!!

AFAIK, "TOP GUN" is printed on the M560TG board.

M560: 4 PCI, 4 ISA, 2 DIMM
M560TG: 5 PCI, 3 ISA, 3 DIMM, 512KB cache
M565: same as M560TG with 1MB cache
M575: 4 PCI, 3 ISA, 3 DIMM, audio
Note: M560TG and M565 use same BIOS.

Does this mean you have been successful in flashing an updated BIOS? And is all well with it?
