i have a nec versapro va60h laptop which run cel 600 cpu, after upgrade to p3 700, my system keep running at 550, do i need to update bios (to get full speed) and where to get newer one (now is nec bios rev 154A2600)?
Maybe not even 550, but rather 466 if your laptop is only 66MHz FSB capable. Or... if it is 100MHz FSB capable, it might simply display 550MHz while really running at 700.
Try using a diagnostic program to verify its real speed.
mine is 100MHz FSB, using everest to verify and it shows max speed = 700 but running at 550, any way to force cpu run at max speed, do i have to adjust any jumper (but i don't know which one to adjust)?
disable all power-saving modes can't help, i'm sure it must be jumper settings which limit cpu speed at 600 (my old cpu) but i don't know how to adjust those (when use AC power, if speedstep is set to auto in bios, my system can't boot and using intel frequency uti. in DOS, it shows my cpu run at 550 to)!
