Hi. I have a PcChips 810LR mobo with an American Megatrends Award Bios and the Mobo's support software CD includes a BIOS UPDATE UTILITY which allows me to update the BIOS file on the mainboard. Does this utility cum driver mean that I can install an updated bios from the PCChips website straight to the bios via my OS as one would do with a normal driver install or does the utility simply enable me to update the bios via the normal BIOS updating method involving the floppy disc etc.

I appreciate this is probably a very basic question but I just to not understand the purpose and meaning of this utility and I would be most grateful if someone would explain its purpose. Thanks in anticipation.

I'm quite sure it's only for pure MSDOS (preferrably floppy) mode.

Thanks AJZCHIPS. So just to clarify this, am I to assume that without that Utility I would not be able to update the BIOS at all or is that utility just a means of making an update possible. ? Any more advice would be appreciated.

It's a necessary utility for BIOS updating.
