Did Acer's v58xa motherboard ever really exist?

For the last week I have been on an odyssee searching for a bios upgrade for the ACER v58xa motherboard. A friend gave me an Socket 7 IBM aptiva 2137-E16, and I am trying to breath new life into it. I plan to upgrade it to an an AMD K63 (or K63+ if I can get away with it) and I think I need to update the 12/15/97 BIOS before I try. There is a relevant string in a different forum by kp6286 that ended on 8/10/2004 with a jumper-based solution. But Kp6286 says he too searched far and wide and couldn't find the update. I know there was a release of a 1999 update b/c Don5408's aptiva site says so and gives the IBM file link (http://members.aol.com/sentinel84/uas/bios/). The link from there to IBM (now Lenovo) is dead. The regular Acer site has nothing. The acer archive site (http://assist.acer.com/public/system/91 ... m#Articles shows that there were four acer models that used the same board (1833, 1840, 1845 & 1845r) but no google success with them either. Struck out at driversguide.com too. My guess is that Acer and IBM took down the update b/c they are in the business of selling new computers/MOBO's -- not the business of helping socket 7 fans, but it can't be that the bios update has been wiped from all of cyberspace. That's not possible, IS IT? javascript:emoticon('8O')
Shocked
Any advice? Thanks!

I was able to get the 3/17/98 patch version from one of your links. I think that's the end of the road for official bios updates for this board. I'll try it with the new cpu and see how it goes. Thanks.

Running e26fix.exe from my link I get a readme.txt file dated 03/17/1998.
But the BIOS file r05-e0.bin date is 12/16/1997.

I used to work for Acer several years ago and that time the best public place to get all bios updates etc. was from ftp.acer.de but it seems to have only images of products. Unfortunately the plant I used to work at has been closed so I cannot get any inside stuff from Acer anymore as no-one I know works there any longer. I'll try to see if I can fnd anything.

Edit:
Ok, ftp.acer.nl seems to be up so you should check from there, go to ftp://ftp.acer.nl/desktop/mainboard/
