Anyone ever find one for this board? I am unable to install windows 95 because of it. The one from firmware.com is an update only so I cant install it. Thank you.

We need to try and find out what board is inside. This typenumber comes as big tower or mini tower. Most likely there's a JX30 board or an Intel Classic R board in there. Current bios info and/or a clear picture of the motherboard itself would help a lot.

Found this quote from an old post in a usenet group.

"First, download the GLB05 BIOS from the Gateway web site, and update
your BIOS. Second, disable system and video BIOS shadowing in the
system CMOS. Now try again.

If the above fails, you can try the not-for-free MicroFirmware BIOS
for this computer.

I could write a book about the quirky behavior of the Windows 95
Upgrade retail version. It was the first and the worst, NEVER updated
and fixed by Microsoft. You may have encountered a quirk here. And
forget about Windows 98, which doesn't even run on some systems which
get along famously with Win 95.

Are you using any 3rd party software to manage the hard disk, to
circumvent the 528MB hard disk BIOS limitation???

So looks like im ok. I just need to disable shadowing in the bios when I get home.

Still same error sadly. Bios config will cause data loss.

Ok got it working.
1. I first formatted and setup the 16gb CF card using Ontrack 9.57 in the gateway.
2. I then used winimage to make a vhd of the CF card.
3. Booted that card in virtual box and installed win95 osr2.5
4. Copied vhd back to cf card.
5. Boot and setup hardware in win95.
Finished and working.

So not only you have a working system but also a disk image that you can restore. Well done sir, and thank you for sharing this method, this took some out of the box thinking (pun intended).
