I'm needing some help with updating my BIOS. I have:
eMachines T4150
FIC VC31 motherboard
BIOS Date: 09/12/01
BIOS Version: IED42
OS: WinXP SP2
CPU: Intel P4 1.5GHz
Memory Installed: 512MB

I'd like to update the BIOS so that I can upgrade the CPU to a 2.4GHz CPU and 2GB RAM, but i'm not having any luck (with either the mboard maker or emachines). When I attempt to run the flash util I get this error "The program file's BIOS-Lock String does not match with your system!" I should note that its a "Phoenix Bios"...

So...can anyone slide me some info on how to get around my problems, please! Thanks very much in advance!

the board's m/n is deffinately VC31...possibly VC31-L for whatever that means. right on my bios chip is a sticker that says vc31, v. IED42. i learned in a post on here that the IED is an OEM bios? somehow that person got around the OEM bios and was able to updarte to the IEA.
