Hi all,
I have a circa 2003 Matsonic MS8308EP mobo. I have installed a Sata PCI expansion card which recognises and accesses a 500Gb Sata drive under XP. The OS boots and runs from my existing IDE drive.
I would like to know if it is possible to boot an OS from this Sata drive even though my current Bios doesn't show Sata drive, it is usable once XP has booted and loaded from existing IDE drive.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

The SATA card must have it's own Bios to be bootable - if you don't see a SATA detection screen (usually after your normal Bios detection screen (memory count, checking IDE devices) is over) then it has no Bios and is not bootable.
If you do see a screen where it's detecting your SATA HDD then it should be bootable. You have to enter your Bios and change your boot priorities (Boot other devices to yes, SCSI as first boot device).
