AL1V12 ## 44D7 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX rev 1.2 12/18/97-i440LX-2A69Jk19C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0224 ## F3E0 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980224 02/23/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0308 ## 5B7A MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980308-0 02/23/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0320 ## 57B9 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980320-0 03/21/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0910 ## 9273 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980910-0 09/10/1998-i440EX-2A69J001C-00 Yes AUTO

AL1V12 ## 44D7 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX rev 1.2 12/18/97-i440LX-2A69Jk19C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0224 ## F3E0 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980224 02/23/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0320 ## 57B9 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980320-0 03/21/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

Il primo AL1V12 ## 44D7 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX rev 1.2 12/18/97-i440LX-2A69Jk19C-00 No AUTO

ISA, 2 USB, pentium II 233, scheda audio awe 64, scheda video S3
384 Mb sdram
Spero che qualcuno in possesso dei tre bios in questione me li posti.

Vi ringrazio.

Ciao.

[Edited by Nick S to make more sense, as babelfish at AltaVista did not do a good job]

I'd like to tell you a story which started in January 1998 and is still in process of resolution:

One day after I installed the software for the Logitech mouse and restarted the PC (KM-T6-AL1 REV 1:1 chip FW82443LX) it did not know how to go again! Why not ? Simply, the BIOS had been wiped out!!! I believe this happened through an electrostatic contact.

I quickly looked for the BIOS on the net and found one called AL1_0910. It is the last officialy released version from jamicon.nl when it was still alive!! At the time it seemed that it all worked well, but I was mistaken; every so often the the PC turned off for no reason, during a self-test or while connecting to the internet, other times it hung.

One fine day a net friend from Cagliari, reading my post, emailed me the file AL1_0308, which is a slightly later version (a few months), the same one I have posted here:
http://www.bios-drivers.com/drivers/88/88640.htm
which I thought would fix the problem. While it has reduced in intensity, the problem remains; for example, disconnection of the ADSL modem, printing problems (I still have one lexmark X85), and occasions when the PC hangs.

To cut it short, I am trying all the versions of BIOS for the Km-t6-al1 motherboard. I have found the names (but not the BIOS files unfortunately) of all the following BIOSes for the KM-T6-AL1:

Code: Select all

AL1V12 ## 44D7 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX rev 1.2 12/18/97-i440LX-2A69Jk19C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0224 ## F3E0 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980224 02/23/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0308 ## 5B7A MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980308-0 02/23/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0320 ## 57B9 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980320-0 03/21/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0910 ## 9273 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980910-0 09/10/1998-i440EX-2A69J001C-00 Yes AUTO
These are all the versions of bios for the Km-t6-al1 motherboard, in release order, put out by jamicon.nl when it was active. I am looking for the three bios that I am still missing in order to see if I manage to install one that functions perfectly, that is these:

Code: Select all

AL1V12 ## 44D7 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX rev 1.2 12/18/97-i440LX-2A69Jk19C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0224 ## F3E0 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980224 02/23/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO

AL1_0320 ## 57B9 MB-KMT6-AL1 Intel 440LX Release 19980320-0 03/21/98-i440LX-19980216C-00 No AUTO
However I am also unsure that the problem is the BIOS. I realise that the driver required for the 82433LX chip could also be the issue; on one of the Intel sites I have read that the problem of "freezing" may be introduced with the USB ports driven directly from the chip. A further issue but one which cancels the previous one is that if I use a PCI USB card with its own chip, I still get the problem, but worse.

Another feature of my original BIOS that was erased, which is different to the other versions I have tested (AL1_091, AL1_0308) were functions (such as CPU temerature monitoring, Supervisor password, etc.,) which have disappeared in later versions.

Editor (NickS): cannot translate:
ets.freetranslation.com translates it as;
I would not want that the chip 82443LX if I do not continue correctly from the bios facesse of the insanities that is went in ball (for the cazzi on the)

A last notable difference and one that I think is the root cause of the major problems with the BIOS AL1_0910 is that as you can see the BIOS string reports EX instead of LX.
I believe that the motherboard in question was assembled during the course of its production using different chips, first the LX and then the EX, which would be similar but not the same!! I do not even understand why they called it KM-T6-AL1, seeing that if I am not mistaken AL1 is also a chip; that is to say why use it if the motherboard is to be produced with LX and perhaps EX. It would not be that perhaps some example was produced also with chip AL1? What a gambling-house ! However I think not because there is and I have never seen a BIOS with a string AL1.

My PC configuration:
Jamicon KM-T6-AL1 Rev 1:1, chipset Intel FW82443LX, 1 AGP, 3DIMM, 4 PCI, 3 ISA, 2USB
Pentium II 233
Audio card AWE64
Video card S3
384MB SDRAM

I hope that someone in possession of the three BIOSes in question can post them to me.

Thanks again

Ciao

19980216c is also reported on the P6LX2, which sounds like a Luckytech board. Maybe they were OEMing Jamicon stuff. Or the other way around. Jamicon/Kaimei/Fastfame/Luckytech is one big morass.

Belsaggio/Supercody,
I hope you do not mind that I translated your message again. I think you used "babelfish". This makes mistakes like translating "EX" to "former".

This may not help you, but I can explain a little about the "AL1". The chipset that you mean is "ALI", "Acer Logic Inc".

If you look at the names of some of the links in the motherboard info at archive.org you will see "KMT6_al3.htm" for KM-642L, "KMT6_ab1.htm" for KM646B and "KMT6_el1.htm" for KM-643E/L. It seems they changed the naming scheme after the KM-T6-AL1, but the website design was already using the old scheme.

Are you sure that your PSU is adequate ?
Are you using all 3 DIMM slots for your 384 MB ?

Examine this picture closely. Is it identical to your board? (just asking because I'm a proud owner of a 643E-AT, LX chipset).

I have not still received the e-mail with bios.

When I am in possession of the bios I will put to disposition for downloads.

Thanks.

Grazie.

Dear friends, i have found a mainboard similar a Jamicon/Kamei KM-T6-AL1.

Cari amici ho trovato una scheda madre che assomiglia quasi in tutto a quella in mio possesso ovvero KM-T6-AL1

it is this: http://www.dt.ru/complect/mainboard/ls/ls_6alx2.htm
è questa: http://www.embeddedlogic.com/TH99/m/I-L/36012.htm

it can work the bios of this mainboard "6alx2" in my mainboard "KM-T6-AL1"??????????????????????????
Può funzionare il bios di questa scheda madre "6alx2" nella mia "KM-T6-AL1????????????

These are the bios:

These Biosfile you listed are for a Lucky-Star mainboard and not for your Jamicon/Kaimei mainboard - do not use them !!

DIP/Jumperless :
DIP means all settings (CPU multiplier + FSB + maybe VCore) are configured via DIP-swithes or jumpers
Jumperless means many - if not all - settings are configured within Bios

Can you test with only two ? Some boards could not drive 3 memory slots well.
