Spare BIOS Chip?

Hello world,

I just joined this site today; it's a great resource. Thanks
to whomever is running it.

I want to make a spare BIOS chip to keep as a physical backup.
A friend had his BIOS code destroyed by a virus and had a lot
of trouble getting his PC restored. I don't want to have that problem.

I currently have an older GigaByte GA-586HX Pentium motherboard.
GigaByte has an updated BIOS which I want to use to flash into a
spare BIOS chip.

My current BIOS chip (32-pins, rectangular shape) has the following
numbers (in order from top to bottom):

29EE010
150-3C-PH
964644-D

The manufacturer's logo is SST. The current BIOS is Award Modular BIOS 4.51PG,
copyright 1995.

The spare chip, from another motherboard (Acer AP5C, etc.), has a similar
BIOS (32-pins, rectangular) with the following numbers:

PH29EE010
150-3CF
951925-D

SST again, but with AMI BIOS copyright 1993 (don't know the version).

So the question is can I flash the spare chip with the new BIOS using
the spare motherboard (or maybe a PROM burner), and then plug the spare
directly into my current motherboard?

Does this make sense to anybody? I would really appreciate any input
people all over the world have on this.
