I'm running a Compaq Presario model PX786AA-ABA SR1500NX NA530 with an ASUSTek Kelut 2.02 (Model) motherboard with the chipset VIA HM400. My current BIOS is Pheonix Tech. ver. 3.14 last dated 3/9/2005.
I ran the BIOS update scan, but it won't tell me what the actual update needed is. I'm not super computer savvy and am having difficulty finding the update. I'd prefer to not pay the subscription to the site just to find the update needed or anything like that. If anybody has it, could you send it my way?

There is 3.15 but it only changes the boot order of the devices:

So unless you have an issue with that specific subject, you do not need to update your bios. It's not going to improve the performance or give support for new stuff. Your system is 8 - 10 years old and it shows.
