I was happy to recently connect DSL to a USB port on my Twinhead Slimnote 9TE-266TZ laptop, and soon enough, as I feared, something would go haywire on my outmoded laptop and did--the Iomega Zip 100 Drive stopped working.
BIOS Date: 7/15/95
BIOS Type: American Megatrends
BIOS ID: 51-3303-001159-00101111-071595-I430TX-007 33 TRAJAN
OEM Sign-ON: AMIBIOS MOBILE '97
Chipset: Intel Triton 430TX rev 1
It seems I need to to upgrade the BIOS and/or the USB chipset, but am having difficulty identifying what site I can go to for that help.
Can anyone offer suggestions?
Also has anyone had experience with Twinhead in dealing with USB problems that are related to BIOS or the chipset?
Thank you for any suggestions,
Andrea

Are you entirely sure the Zip drive failure is related? Those old Zips aren't what you'd call reliable.
What OS are you running?

Flash your BIOS at your own risk.
Thank you for the links.
My OS is WIN98SEC, my Zip Drive USB 100 seemed to be working well while a scanner was also attached to the other USB port. But as soon as I connected the DSL, I have had problems with it.

What sort of problems are you having whith each device?
Is the USB port "tripping"?
Any reason the DSL Modem isn't on an ethernet card?

Hi, I just took my computer in and I was told that for some reason the zip drive was linked to the parrallel port instead of the USB port. So for a minimal fee ($10), my problem was figured out. I'm not sure how this happened, but now my ZIP USB works.
thanks for suggestions.
