I am using AwardBIOS Flash Utility V8.22A to upgrade my BIOS on an ATREND ATC-6220 version 2 motherboard. I have downloaded the update (6220118A.BIN) but it will not install. I have tried and different versions of this file. This is the procedure I am using:

1. Boot from a floppy that contains AwardBIOS and my *.BIN files.

2. at the command prompt type “awdflash.exe 6220118A.BIN” (without quotations)

3. After it enters the program, “6220118A.BIN” is already in the box, and at the bottom of the screen it says “Please Wait!”

I have waited for longer than an hour for this step, but it continues to sit there idle at "Please Wait!"

From what I can tell it is suppose to follow this and ask me if I want to save my current BIOS, but I never receive this option.

If you have any info or missing steps, I appreciate it.

You need older awdflash (v7.xx).

Where can I find "awdflash v.7"? I have searched the net, but no luck. Can you please provide me with a link or a credible source?

Thanks

Great, the first step is corrected, but now I am receiving the message "The program file's part number does not match with your system!". I have tried two different versions of Award Flash, 7.05 and 7.52, and they both give me this message. Is this error because of the Award program or my *.bin file? If you need my motherboard, it is listed in the first post. I need to upgrade the bios on it to support a 40 GB hard drive.

Thanks

That means that the BIOS ID string does not agree between your present BIOS and the one you are trying to flash. This could be because they changed the string with the version or because you have got the worng ID for the board. What is the present BIOS info ?
e.g. "i440BX-W977TF-ATC-6220C-VH" is for 117, which is the latest I found.
Can you provide a link for the 118 BIOS ?

I used the Award Utility to view system information and this is what it said:

Award ID-String: 08/12/98-i440BX-W977TF-ATC-6220C-00

Board/BIOS - Version: ATC-6220 Ver:1.1 03 WB OM

Hope this helps out. I appreciate your help!

You get the error because the ID string is a bit different:
12/08/1999-i440BX-W977TF-ATC-6220C-KZ

Try running awdflash with /py parameter or try UniFlash.
