I have an old P-II (350MHZ) and I want to upgrade the Processor so that I can run Windows 2000 Pro and Server and possibly Linux (when I get a bigger hard drive.)

I didn't see this BIOS version on-line it is :AWARD MODULAR V4. 51PG
CHIPSET i440 BX-w977TF-2A69KMPCC-00. Will this chip set tolerate a P-4?

If so, what do I need to do?

You can not put P4 in Slot 1 board. The Pentium II 350MHz is fine both for Linux and Windows 2000. Just make sure you have enough memory - 128MB at least.

I notice Evergreen (http://www.evertech.com) have some slot 1 upgrades on clearance "special offer" - no warranty, no return. May be worth a try in the USA.

Not a P4, of course, but a nice Celeron Tualatin will do the job :)
