This happened to 2 of my mobo's and I can't figure out why (mainly because I can't find out any info about this anywhere on the net).

On my old i486, it operated perfectly until I changed the button battery, then the computer wouldn't boot anymore. Same thing with my rare S1467-01: changed the RTC and I can no longer boot the system. Just a blank screen.

What the heck? This shouldn't be, right? Please, tell me before I fubar any other mobo up, what am I doing wrong, if anything? Shouldn't it just be as simple as take out the old one, plug in the new one?

Let's keep it to one thread per motherboard, please.
