Hi,

I have seen posts with the same topic but they all end up linking to http://wims.rainbow-software.org and there the id strings don't quite match exactly.

So, can someone please post a link to a bios for this MB supporting this HD or email it to me.

Current BIOS version is 1.0 10 GS

Thanks

The strings do not match exactly because Atrend changed the two last characters in the latest BIOS. It should work fine on your board.

I tried the Atrend ATC-6130 v1.0 BIOS at http://http://wims.rainbow-software.org with an Award flashing utility (awd802.exe) but the following error occured and the upgrade didn't go ahead: "The program file's part number does not match with your system."

Is this because the ID string isn't the same?

What can i do now?

The file name of Award BIOS binary files is usually derived from the BIOS serial number. Because one file name resemble another, a customer may inadvertently use the wrong binary file when updating the system BIOS with the Award flash utility.

To help avoiding this problem, Award have added a new feature to AWDFLASH.EXE, version 5.33 and above - a warning message that appears if the program detects a mismatch between the BIOS binary file and the system board.

If a mismatch is detected, the following message appears when the user responds YES to the program prompt to flash the BIOS:

The program file's part number does not match with your system

This warning message appears only if the binary file name you specified in the program differs from the existing file in your system.

If you receive this message, check carefully to ensure that you have the correct binary file for your system.

You can bypass checking the serial number by typing the following at the DOS command line:

Awdflash 2Axxxxxx.BIN /Py

The /Py switch immediately flashes the new binary file to the BIOS EPROM.

Ok,

The thing is, im not sure that i have the right BIOS.
Can anyone guarantee that the Atrend ATC-6130 v1.0 BIOS with ID string: 07/22/1999-i440LX-W977TF-ATC-6130C-EB
posted at http://wims.rainbow-software.org will work with a MB with the string:
01/08/98-i440LX-W977-ATC-6130C-00

If so ill try /Py

There's no warranty here - you're doing everything at your own risk.
As your BIOS is "1.0 10 GS", that BIOS should work. It's one version newer ("ATC-6130 VER:1.0 11 GS") and patched.

Well i risked it....
and it worked fine.

The /Py didn't work so i ended up using Uniflash, which also gave me an error that the boot block didn't match, but i went ahead anyway.

So now i can happily use my 40Gb HD to its full extent.

Thanks for all your help.

Well it seems it wasn't fine after all.

The BIOS upgrade went fine, but now, for some reason, with the new BIOS, the HD is sometimes still read as 33GB.

I can change this with Maxtors program MadBlast, but it still goes back.

I think it happens when i access the BIOS or unplug the computer, or it could just be completely random.

Can anyone help??

Make sure the 32GB clip is removed completely from your HDD and make sure there's no dust within the HDD jumper pins

Where/what is this Clip?

I have used this same HD @ 40GB on another computer, so i don't think it is set to 32GB.

Turns out the AC pin was in the whole time......

When installing the HD this was the only jumper combination that worked and i figured that it was slave.

Oh well,

Thanks for pointing that out.

Please use our patched ATC-6130 V1.0 Bios from here :
http://wims.rainbow-software.org/

Use Uniflash to update your Bios - do not use awdflash !
