Hi All,
I'm using a K7S5A ECS board with an AMI Bios which I would like to flash update. I have tried using a boot floppy created using XP and another using Drd flash from Bootdisk. Both boot into Dos OK then I get the following message:
DOS/4G Protected Mode Run-time Version 2.01a
Chipset Type SIS 735
Flash part - Winbond 49F002U
Error 2 - File does not exist
Can anyone point out my mistake? I have tried using the bios chb1129
from OCWorkbench and the K7S5A 021029 from ECS using both aminf333
and drdflash.
Grateful for any help,
rogleale

Just checking:
You are using an autoexec.bat file with a single line that says something like "aminf333 chb1129.rom" ? (please post the full command line)
The BIOS file is not read-only ?
There is no config.sys ?

Better use the chb1129.rom file - the known best Bios for the good old K7S5A

NickS, Denniss,
I followed the link to ECS but I had already viewed it. In XP the format function does not give any results on completion, but reading the floppy afterwards it has the following files:
System: Display, Keybrd 1,2,3,4. & keybrd (MS-DOS)
CPI : EGA 1, 2, 3.
Others: Mode - MS-DOS app.
No config-sys
To these I added aminf333 and chb1129.rom
I booted and used the command line:
A:\>aminf333 chb1129.rom
Any ideas?
Roger

flasher is CaSe SeNsItIvE. Do a dir ch*.rom and check if it is in ALL CAPS. If so, use CHB1129.ROM in the aminf333 line.

Are you sure? I doubt that the flasher is case sensitive in an DOS environment.edwin wrote:flasher is CaSe SeNsItIvE. Do a dir ch*.rom and check if it is in ALL CAPS. If so, use CHB1129.ROM in the aminf333 line.
I'm surprised Denniss didn't mention the format bug under XP with (very) early versions of the K7S5A BIOS.
@ rogleale
What is the actual BIOS version running on the K7S5A?
Did you create/format the boot floppy from XP on a drive connected to the K7S5A?
If you did so, try creating the boot floppy on an other PC (w/o config.sys and autoexec.bat).

Never noticed that - so I guess I always "tripped" on the sunny sideedwin wrote:The flasher is case sensitive, this has tripped many other users in the past.
