I have bought a new 40 gig hardrive that is not being recognised by my motherboard AOpen Ax6BC

My Bios info is

BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.60PGMA
BIOS ID: 08/06/2002 - i440BX-00000006C-00
Award Plug & Play Bios Extensions V1.0A

I was hoping for some help.

New BIOS files are available at AOpen, but I had trouble trying to install them in mine.

See my topic "BIOS Flash not working" here at this forum and let me know how you make out.

Thanks!!

This Bios is recent enough to support even bigger Harddrives so what exactly is your problem ?

If your drive is recognizes as 32GB only then remove the 32GB Limitation clip on the HDD !

what seems to be the problem is that once i have installed the new bios and go to windows explorer right click on C drive go to properties to see how much capacity on my computer it reads 6.97 gig instead of the 40gig?

Maybe you partitioned only 7GB out of the posible ~40GB ?
Or do you have a ~40GB partition as C: ?
