need help with dell latitude c640
I recently tried to change my o/s from windows 2000 to xp pro.
during installation i got an error no. 800b0001 which i searched for at microsoft help and found that it probably referred to an outdated bios.
My version is A04. I got A09 from dell's website. Should i install the newer one? Will this enable me to boot up my computer and install xp?
any help would be appreciated even rewarded

That's 5 revisions newer... it's certainly worth a try.

I upgraded my bios to a09 but the same problem exists. So i went to a computer shop in the city and they advised me to get a 'real' copy of xp, because the one i was using was a copy and even though it works on my toshiba laptop, it may not work on other machines with different hardware.
So i will try to install a proper copy.
If this doesnt work, do you know anything else

Nothing short of running a supported OS on this laptop or getting a new one that does know how to handle XP...
