Hello,

Just had an old pc die on me, getting around to firing up a newer old pc to take its place, but its bios isn't supporting my Seagate 40gig drive.

Entire bios boot screen reads as ...

Awards Modular Bios v4.51PG

Intel 440BX/ZX AGPset Bios for 6BXC V.2.9

Pentium III-MMX CPU @ 600MHZ

Award Plug and Play Bios extension V 1.0A

07/01/1999-i440BX-8671-2A69KG0DC-00

Took a look at the find your motherboard section and the 2A69K would seem to jive with the Intel 440BX/ZX part of the bios startup, so I at least seem to understand that much. The G0 (zero) points to Giga-byte as the motherboard maker ... I just want to make sure I'm getting the right bios, hence the question to the gurus. Apologies if I somehow forgot to include something thats needed.

Thanks in advance.

For PCB revision 2.0 or newer. Version 3.0 of the bios is the last one officially reported for boards version 1.7 and 1.9

Tried both the 6BXC and the F3 versions and they still didn't auto detect the new drive, or let me choose the correct size. But version F4 did do the trick. Thanks for the help.

Hmmm ???

I've installed F4-Beta on many 6BXC even on old 1.7 ones - not any problem yet reported

Right. That reminds me not to take any notice of any comments made at the Gigabyte site at all as apparently they don't seem to know which bios will run on what board version. F3 and F4 were clearly labeled as being for ver 2.0 or newer PCBs. Oh well...

You meant this comment from Gigabyte ?

Support Celeron 533A to 700 CPU(FC-PGA). (PCB revision : 2.0A or above)

-> PCB 2.0A message is only for official CPU support but not for the whole Bios (I have a rev 1.7 with P3-800)
