Different people have different ways of describing the identification messages put out by the BIOS on start-up. The OEM sign-on or OEM message is usually in the top left of the memory count screen and can often be customised by using a utility (modbin for Award, amibcp for AMI). The BIOS ID, on the other hand, appears in the bottom left of the memory count screen and usually is a series of letters and numbers with hyphens between them.
