I have a old PC, it's Pentium-S 160Mhz. The bios was unable to detect HDD more than 8GB, but it will run just fine if I install a New 20GB HDD running as SLAVE, with a 1.2GB HDD as Master. The 20GB HDD was divided to 3 Partition with no partition more than 8GB. I also tried with a Maxtor 40GB HDD which was also divided to 2 partitioned, 20GB each.It run in win98, But some little windows problem raised and I give up. I plan to buy a new 60GB or 40GB HDD recently.. so just wanna get some advice and seeking for updates if available.. thanks

It's Taken PCI590 board. I have something like that - PCI590-2 - but it's dead :(
The latest BIOS is:
10/09/97-i430FX-2A59CT4AC-00
(2a59ct4a) PCI590 - TRITON FX PENTIUM 586 M/B
It should supports HDDs over 8,4GB - if it really does, it can be patched to work with HDDs up to 128GB.

A copy which still says "Evaluation copy - not for sale" can be found through http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/ ... 59CT4A.bin but needs patching for larger HDDs (>32GiB)....done. Look at the link in my signature shortly.

For your 20GB HDD try the one at the link above.

Check your CMOS HDD settings are set to "Auto"

The PCI590-2 came dead to me. The BIOS is OK, there must be a hardware failure.

IIRC, Maxtor also advise you should not use Maxblast with Windows 2000 or XP...I think Linux doesn't like it either.
