this is the id code that amibios id prog gave me. I cannot get a code from the boot screen. The manual says M920 series, V1.3 VT8753/November 2001.

The smbios info is

1.manufacturer= ECS
2.name=M920
3.ver=1.0
4.serial=00000000

The board has a celeron 1.7 in it. I think its a 423 socket???

I need to upgrade the bios I think it is corrupt. The mb wont take an operating system and Ive checked everything else

Im new at this so any help would be greatlt appreciated : ]

That's a PC-Chips M920. If the BIOS is corrupt it will not boot; it will stop with an error message, as the first thing it does when it starts to boot is carry out an integrity check on the BIOS.
Check out The PC-Chips Lottery website for excellent advice, but the integrity of the BIOS is not likely to be a problem.

Is there a message just below the AMI symbol on the memory count screen ? That may help to identify the model.
At what point in the OS installation does it fail ?
