Hi!

I have a PC with a MS-5187 board and award bios. I've found a patched version of a earlier bios-version (this one: http://wims.rainbow-software.org/rainbo ... 20v1.0.zip, but, after flashing this version, the pc is dead :-(

I hope, you can give me a hint or a new patched version:

my data:

Award 4.51PG 2A5LHM49
W5187VD4 V2.0 021100
08/21/1999-VP4-686A-245LHM49C

The last offical bios you find on http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/b ... 104&kind=1

Thanks for your answer.

best wishes from switzerland

Sorry but this was the wron Bios for your Board .
the patched Bios is for a Rev 1.0 Board with Rev 1.x Bios but you have a Rev 2.0 Bios indicating something is different on your Board and MSI shows it has at least a different PLL chip .
And your Board is not a Retail version but an OEM-version as W5187VD4 indicates .

Question : What branded system is your mainboard of/in ?

Is your board completely dead or does it try to read from floppy ?

Hi Denniss

The PC is named as "iDot Explora". On the MSI-Board i can see "MS5187 VER:1" (between the first and second pci-slot).

The PC is completly dead... i can not see any access to the floppy (i've wait a long time... a few minutes).

I hope this infos are helpful for you.

You'll need a Bios Reprogram service or a new Flashrom

Does your Board have the PLL chip MSI suggests for the 2.0 bios ?

If you mean with "PLL-chip" the "ICS9248-127", then i can agree. My board has this chip. The bios 2.1 is the correct version (i hope so :-)

The file at your link for your iDOT board is:
08/21/1999-VP4-686A-2A5LHM49C-00
W5187D4 V1.3 112599

The standard MSI V1.3 BIOS is:
10/20/1998-VP4-686A-2A5LHM49C-00
W5187MS V1.3 110499

I'll take a look at patching your BIOS. It may be at the "untested" link in my signature shortly.

A version of the BIOS you listed, patched with "bp" from apple_rom, is at the "untested" link in my signature - look for (idot-MSI 5187d4 bp).zip.
If you have a problem, pressing "-" while booting or disconnecting the keyboard should result in the unpatched version of the BIOS being used.
