Hello,
Last week-end i bought a brand new Samsung SpinPoint 80Gb HD for my old PC, but unfortunately the BIOS couldn't detect the new drive. It hangs on 'auto-detect' and so on...
Here are all the BIOS informations I've found on my PC :
Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 3.23
Program: eSupport.com BIOS Detect v1.2 July 21, 2003
BIOS Date: 09/11/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 09/11/1998-SiS-5598-2A5IIAT9C-00
OEM Sign-On: TX98 BIOS Rev.F 12-SEP-1998
Chipset: SiS 5597 rev 16
Superio: ITE 8661/SiS 6801 rev 2 found at port 279h
Please can you tell me what can I do to upgrade that BIOS so that finally the new HDD can be recognized ?
Thank you !
80GB : 09/11/1998-SiS-5598-2A5IIAT9C-00

ASK technology TX98
make a backup with awdflash
Any 6.xx or 7.xx AWARD flasher will do fine.
You can try version 6.00a from:
http://www.8ung.at/th2chips/award/index.html
awdflash /Pn /Sy TX98.bin
from a bootable floppy. send TX98.bin file to edwin@wimsbios.com or rainbow@wimsbios.com and we'll try and patch it.
