Hi Prizal.

If you can wait 1½-2 weeks, I will most likely have a lot of P-III 850MHz MMC-2 CPU's.

The price will be $ 101.35/£ 52.91/€ 77.51 + shipping, prepaid.
I'll ship worldwide.

Edited, May 17 2005.
The deal is off. My supplier can't deliver.

Kindest regards
Brian

Katch,

Really?
Interesting. What operating system are you running? What is the percentage of SpeedStep success with AC on?

Windows XP - From cold not often, from hot (and she does get a bit hot!) more than 50%.

8) SHAREDOC ,all my thinkpads go to full speed within seconds after xp boot, battery ,no battery ,mains+battery, mains only,by admission
i kinda cut folio at a slight different area as opposed to your instructions
+it was kinda by accident too,but seens that it must be ok because i don't have the fast speed issues in xp ,i thought i'll let you know, after all if it wasn't for you i'll be stuck on 433mghz

Sharedoc wrote:Down the thread someone asked if it is possible to change the processor chip on the MMC2 module for a >850MHz PGA-type PIII processor.

A Finnish overclocker colleague removed the PIII processor from a broken MMC2 printed circuit board. He compared the pinout , turns out look identical, with the exception that Micro-PGA PIII has an additional pin seating. You can find the images here

8O its a shame how they weld the pins as opposed to a pressfit situation
conversely if one uses a butane torch +carefully heats +prys off the cpu ,then inspect +carefully drill out ea pin if needed to try the newer cpu
lots and lots of hours (but it can be done if no damage to the cpu board has been made.
8O i got a question sharedoc, can i modify my server board to increase the fsb by 5-10% similar the tp 600 mod?why i ask is because its currently got a cypress w258 clock generator (100-133fsb) but you cannot modifie fsb asides from the dipswitch +i am pondering if i just swap the 14.8 mgz to a faster one ,will it sorta make default fsb to 105-140 as standard with the correct value crystal ? :?

Changing the 14.318MHz crystal to a faster alone does not do the job, because all timings will be scaled by the ratio of the chrystal speeds. For example the clock will run faster and soundcard gives you wrong sounds, modem does not work, etc.

Basically, the motherboard needs correct reference frequencies 14.318MHz and 24/48MHz. These can be generated with so called turbo-PLL circuit.

Did you check the SoftFSB utility, if your clock generator has frequencies that can be activated by software using SMbus protocol?

Katch, how stable is your pad? Sharedoc said his 750 was unstable at @ 810 mhz.

Well,

seems this thread has become a pure hardware-modding thread now. No one cares about bios update for correct pIII cache initialisation?

Does anybody know a good bios modder who could help me with this issue? Don´t want to sacrifice another board. Recently stumbled over a modded bios for my A7N8X which enables couple of features done by "RedDwarf". Who did this mod should be able to do a slight modification to the TP bios...

i've tried to repeat it several times, but it still no booting...
is my PIII-450 has broken(dead)?

i installed back my PII-366 and it is running well

my questions, how to check a mmc2 working or not without install it to motherboard?
i've no other 600e and no one have it around me to check it...?

Thanx a lot for you all

Not stable at 810, but it's purely a heat dissipation problem coz I stuck some adhoc water cooling on it and it ran fine cooled to >60 degrees C

Stable at 750 with the 108 Mod removed.

I've moved on to a T20 now so I'm just about wrapping up this project now. It's a shame we haven't managed to create a PIII patched BIOS for the pads, I've put my 600E back to a PII 400 and tidied it up for sale now.

To be honest, I don't see real need of 600E bios modding for PIII any more.

There is a working solution for 127 error and L2 initializatin in Windows and Linux. There is a working solution to SpeedStep.

The only thing that has not been solved is that after suspend/resume (Fn-F4) you have to set L2 on manually. For me this is not worth risking a dead motherboard associated with testing the modded bios.

So those guys whos ask someone else to do the job of bios modding should at least volunteer their 600E to be used for testing the modded bios.

Anyone volunteering?
