Is it possible to be able to run a hard-drive on the SATA interface using a controller such as this :http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... otohosting
on a socket 7 motherboard with a bios limit of 120GB.
I've read that external controllers have their own bios and should have no problems with a large hard-drive regardless of the system, is this true?

Thanks,
Rich

Most, but not all, external Controllers have their own Bios not relying on or being limited by the mainboards Bios limitations.

What about this one, it seems to say so, but I want to be 100% sure.

Thanks,

Looks OK but better find a Controller not using Silicon Image or VIA chipsets.

Reason: Compatibility problems with newer SATA drives (SATA-II drives may not be detected or possible data loss)

Have you got any personal recommendations. Sub £20 chipsets I'm looking at, so which brands/chipset would you recommend?

This one looks tidy would it be decent?

Thanks very much for all this help

Also, would it be wise to use on of these when running on a 75fsb?
