I hope someone here can help.... I have what I believe to be a mainboard by PCChips and this is the only info I have on the board:
When the computer starts the number for the bios is 440LX-1440L000-H
On the last slot of the mainboard there is a the following numbers on the label :
FY81109387
MB710
24
And what I believe is the serial number is 166661300420
Now what I have been told is that with the appropriate bios update it is possible to upgrade to mainboard from a PII to a PIII, which I would like to do.
My question is this.... is this really possible and if so could someone please help me find the appropriate update?? And if possible any drivers that are needed.
I've been looking for quite some time and have absolutely no luck...
440LX-1440L000-H ,need bios update...
use this url here to find out which model you own (there are quite a few).
apparently your board features an intel LX chipset. it only supports a 66MHz fsb (maybe 75/83.3MHz too, but overclocking agp/pci, too). all intel P3 need at least a 100MHz fsb. but there are still some options left. you could go for a celeron cpu (coppermine core like in the P3). they are available from 566 to 766MHz (11.5x66MHz) and will work flawlessly on your board.

No, you need an Ami flash. There are a lot here:

Good question...
The highter version should work better:
ftp://64.124.27.138/pcchips/UTILITY/AMINF342.EXE
But, as you says, is some kind of experiment.
Even PcChips page shows four Ami flashers:

KURIAKI,
I will try the flash utility you provided the link for (ftp://64.124.27.138/pcchips/UTILITY/AMINF342.EXE) and if it doesn't work I will go to the other link you gave and try each of those.....
Again thank you very much for all your help.... it is very much, greatly appreciated....
