Hi!

I have the same problem like in the link below:
http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8026

My mobo is a Procomp BVC1B, w/ 256kb flash Bios
I've tried hot flashing it w/ an older motherboard, that has a 128kb Bios
only.

The problem is, that Uniflash only writes one half of the chip, (awardflash freezes after I type in the file name) though it detects correctly the type and size! 8O
I will try to write twice (mirror) the older mobo's Bios into the 256kb
chip, boot from this, and reflash it w/ the BVC1B's Bios.

Any ideas are welcome!

(I still don't understand, why freezes the bootblock Bios, after inserting the disk?! :? - disk accessing interroupt problem?)

the flash circuit on that older board may show what chip but cannot address all of it. Get your jands on another board that has 256kbyte chip of itself already...

OK, thanks for reply!

The funny thing is, that when I flashed the older boards BIOS in 256k format (concatenated), as I mentiond earlier, it worked perfectly!

I have buildt a small PCB w/ two 32 pin sockets connected in parallel, a cable, and a third socket on the end.
With a small switch, I'm changing between the two flash chips. (tieing the according CE# pin (they are pulled up w/ resistors) to the ground)

So, I'm not exactly hotswapping.
