Yes it is. I wonder whether to buy an inverter or a screen. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks

I guess it is the screen if it all white. Best would be to swap parts from a spare laptop to find out the failty part.

HI guys, I did the 100FSB upgrade on my 390E---> success

But I wasn't able to get my 2 256MB chips to run in a total of 512MB, thare was a strange message when I hook one of them with a 64mb memory, the total is 320mn when booting, but as windows tries to load I get the message " c:/windows/system32/driver/pci.sys not found"!
When I put both the 256mb they are again a total of 256 only and the message of the pci.sys doesn't show! what is going on here?

I made the modification on the speed step my IBM 390E with p-III 650Mhz, but I didn't get any change in speed!
I tried to run deepsleep too, and it made the computer freeze (Ihave windows XP)

I will attach pics of the processor, as you see there is a slight difference in the processor card, I believe I made the right contact.

I also have another question, is it possible ot achieve the 8% increase in FSB in a 390E?

Please give me some logical answers!

Yes I did cut the link to the pin #4

What should I do next?

And what about the message I am getting when I use the 320MB memory?

Any explanation for what is going on?

Ok everybody, I created a startup disk, and I tried the deepsleep in dos mode from a floppy, the previous speed was 498MHz, the new speed "in dos during running depsleep" is 607MHz, but when I try to press alt-ctrl-delete to restart the command doesn't work, and when I unplug the power the speed remains 498Mhz

I think I am going to try Deepsleep in safe mode XP and see how it goes!

p.s hardware modifications were made 100% correct on the cpu.

Trying the deepsleep in safe mode prevented the freezing, but...
The problem was that when runing the program it gave me a message saying it cannot find the fils piix.sys

I looked for the file piix.sys in windows/system32/drivers, as strange as it sounds I found it there, I copied it manually tot he destination to make sure, and I also dropped the same file in the directories system32 and windows

Same problem... I copied deepsleep.exe tot he directory itself and the problem remained!

What is exactly going on? could it e that safe mode disables the use of sys files?

I repeat, running deepsleep in my xp freezes the system, in dos it runs but the change doesn't happen on restart.

Any suggestion?

Can you run deepsleep utility several times under dos. What does it report as speed?

I have done that for almost 6 times, everytime I restart the cpu is back to same old speed about 498MHz

What I am thinking is tat maybe the windows version can work if its problem was fixed (the problem of not being able to see the file piix4.sys in windows/system32/drivers)

I did... each time it gives different values between 592MHz and 608MHZ

I am really confused here...

Did you check the pic I posted? that's what happens when I use the command: dsleep.exe/d

(If it doesn't show in the page then click view image)

Thanx for the reply sharedoc, I need some help here...
