Benefits of a VBIOS update

Video, SCSI, modem, CDROM/CDR/CDRW, etc.

Can I ask what are the benefits of a VBIOS update?

As I read in the forum, I knew that it helps increasing resolution of the VGA adapter.

Does it improve performance?

Newer VGA Bios usually only offer bugfixes or, in the special case with several SIS-based cards, additional resolutions.
