Like many others I have bougth an external monitor to my laptop and now I can't use it´s full potential since (according to SiS) I don´t have the vbios 2.28.00. I have upgraded my bios but this didn´t result in a new vbios. Please help me so I can use 1280x1024 on my monitor.

BIOS Date: 01/20/03
BIOS Type: American Megatrends
BIOS ID: 63-0620-009999-00101111-040201-SiS650-34BS1
OEM Sign-On:
Chipset: SiS 650 rev 17

Chip Type: SiS M650
DAC Type: internal
Memory Size: 32MB
Adapter String: Mirage
Bios Information: 1.10.7o

Or what can possibly be wrong I have the latest drivers and all!

Thanks a lot!

I only see something about wxga and vbios 2.28 nothing about 1280x1024. Are you sure the external monitor can handle that resoltuion and did you install a driver for that anyway?

Hi!

My moniters optimal resolution is 1280x1024, however I can only get the compter to put out maximum 1024x768. I haven't found any information regarding the resolution that my driver supports but I have installed the latest driver. I have also seen other computers using SIS M650 graphics processor that can display sxga!

for example

I have the 650 chipset on a dell laptop with 1gb ram. I have connected externally an ibm e74 monitor, and most of the time the external montior is 1280x1024, but that is with the old firmware. When i do a restart, i loose the 1280 as a selectable option and the external montior is only 1024x768. I takes hours of random playing with the sis adapter panel to get it to switch, and its not the same steps every time?
Got any ideas?
