Hi!

I have already tried your bios update for my barebone with UniVGA3 3.73. My VBIOS version is now 2.30 or later.

It's still not possible, to set the resolution to "1600 x 900" which is the one I need for my 20" Acer X203H.

What can I do, to set this resolution on my barebone? Can that be a problem with my TFT inf? (there is no Driver for this monitor, I use the Windows Plug and Play-Device)

Thank you!

there's nothing you can do, except buying another LCD or another VGA. the reason simple: SIS just didn't add this resolution to their video bios. you can still use Linux as their 3rd party drivers support almost any resolution wether it's in the video bios or not.

Hi,

I have a similar problem with my Asus Pundit S (with SIS 651). I updated to the lastest Bios available on their support website and it shows me the resolution I want (1600 x 1050) however when I select it the screen stays black. Are you aware of this problem? Is there a fixed BIOS available?

Thanks.

Happy Easter!

I am sorry, but I've tried the procedure> flashed the BIOS for my MOBO (Asus P4S8L - Pundit, SiS 651), downloaded from your links (1011.01 version), I downloaded the drivers from the Sis site : UVGA3_373, but they seem to be outdated? I have also installed the AGP GART drivers...

No luck. Am I missing something?

Thanx

download the lastest vga drivers and unpack them to your hdd (don't install them yet!). uninstall the vga drivers completely and reboot. once the os is up again and asks for drivers for the new found hardware point them to the unpacked drivers.

Thank you, will try it first thing in the morning. Did you mean the UVGA3_373 drivers or the AGP driver?

UVGA 3.73
The AGP driver should not be removed.

I don't get it. I followed your procedure, but it just wont offer me anything beyond 1024x768...

I flashed the MOBO.

I removed all VGA drivers.

I installed the last driver (uvga3_3.73 from the sis site)

I installed the .inf file for the monitor.

Still no luck. I even reinstalled XP :(

I really don't understand...

Do I need to change some BIOS parameters? I dont think I can modufy the amount of RAM available to the IG card?

I hope you did not use the setup.exe to install the SIS VGA drivers, you have to install it by using the "have disk2 method, if you are asked for drivers you have to point it to the folder you unpacked the drivers, it should contain a subfolder called WinXp_2k containing the drivers.
Please remove the drivers and try it again.

Thanx for the tip: I did use the setup.exe... However, now I tried the Have disk method and still nothing. When I choose the inf file in the XP_2K folder there are 2 possibilities> only 651 and 651 and several otherm models listed. I tried them both, but nothing changes. I changed the onboard video memory from the BIOS: from 32MB to 64MB (max for this board) and still nothing...

The driver 3.83 installs on
SIS650/740 (~16MB):
but you need to change ini file for setup. And may be inf file also.

Maybe this is the problem?

I am running out of ideas... could someone who succeeded in setting the right resolution send me the drivers (packed or unpacked)?

Thank you.

Maybe the problem is that I cannot manage to get the monitor to be identified (as Samsung 943SN)... I installed the driver utility from the manufacturers CD but it remains always Default Monitor...

I don't know...

Default monitor or Plug and Play monitor ?
Have you tried to manually select a different monitor?
Windows should offer some standard monitor types like 1280x1024 LCD monitor.
