Hello!

I really need help with this! I bought a Seagate 60 GB harddisk. It didn´t work with my motherboard, but I can´t find the BIOS update!

I think this is right:

FULL YES
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS id: 07/21/1998-i440BX-SMC60X-2A69KF39C-00
BIOS OEM Signon: INTEL-BX VER:B_0
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 2
Super I/O Chip: SMC 60x found at port 3F0

I have a P2 350Mhz CPU.

Can somebody help me to find any place I can download this update I need?

Regards

The latest BIOS is:
03/01/1999-i440BX-SMC60X-2A69KF39C-00
INTEL-BX VER:B_1.2
but it has the 32GB bug too. I sent you this one patched to support up to 64GB.

Hi!

Thank you! This is the first time a update my BIOS. How do I install this file? Should I make some backup before?

Regards Albin.

(I will send you a mail and tell you if it works, I really do this on my own risk.)

First check if you have 128KB Flash ROM - find it on your board. It usually has Award sticker on top - look what's written under the sticker. For example: Winbond W29EE011.
Get awdflash somewhere (version 7.x). Create DOS/Win9x boot disk. Put awdflash and new BIOS (unzipped) there. Boot from the disk and run "awdflash /sy". It should ask for file name to save backup BIOS into and then file name of the new BIOS.

Read FAQ at main page here.

Hi again!

Now it´s done. I installed the file, and created a backup. I wonder if it failed? When I try to start the computer, it says that I have a Pentium 2 467Mhz. (Normally 350Mhz). It never runs the memory test, or searching for any CD. I can´t go to the setup. It´s just frozen.

Did it failed? If yes, do you know if I can get me old BIOS back?

I did this on my own risk. Remember that.

If it's a cpu pnp bios, then perhaps it got set to a 133MHz FSB, overclocking your cpu, chipset, ram, etc. way too far.
Clear CMOS to try to restore the 100MHz FSB setting, or check if you have a jumper to force 100MHz FSB.

Power off, put jumper on JP1 (located between coin cell battery and DIMM slots), power on, it might dislay 233MHz now, but you should be able to enter setup and clear CMOS.
