I have one computer, the one I'm currently using. Last time, I corrupted my bios, I had to run my car 6hours to get to the nearest computer shop where I can fix the bios on hardware bases.

Anyway, I corrupted my bios again... Again with Liveupdate program from ASUS...(WINDOWS based~) The program hanged.

It has erased the EPROM and crashed just before writing the new bios. Now the liveupdate program can't recognize the bios.. since it has been erased...

Good thing is ... I haven't yet rebooted the computer...

Program crashed but the Windows still lives...

I'm posting this message from a motherboard-bios-corrupted computer...

Well.. I'm damn scared to reboot it. so, can anyone help me update the bios?

Get the latest LiveUpdate from Asus and try again. Next time, use aflash from real DOS mode.

The Latest Live Update program fails to detect my motherboard and abrupts installing the program itself... Any other suggestion?

If you're using Win9x, then I suggest you try Rainbow's first suggestion: aflash from real DOS mode

Download everything you need from ASUS' site, including Rainbow's Uniflash and copy it to your root directory ( C: ).

Now, select the "restart in MSDOS" option and work from there.

Will that restart without using the BIOS ROM ?
Tested patched BIOSes. Untested patched BIOSes.

If the real DOS mode parameters are not changed, it will not restart when shut down into MS-DOS mode. It will only quit Windows. There's HIMEM.SYS loaded but most flash utilities work even with this one installed. The bad case is when EMM386.EXE is loaded (when present in CONFIG.SYS). Also if MS-DOS mode properties are changed by specifying custom AUTOEXEC.BAT and/or CONFIG.SYS (in some .PIF file in WINDOWS directory), Windows will reboot the machine (which will obviously lead into death).

Winflash program also failed to recognize the mainboard bios.

I need a program that can force a bios flash like UNIFLASH,

and still run on Windows 2000.
