By the way, you can see 440ZX or 440BX on the chipset itself.

Use older version of Awdflash on your board (7.xx) or use UniFlash.

You can FORCE the flash using the /PY parameter in Awardflash.

"Awdflash newbios.bin /PY /SN"

That will bypass the wrong BIOS ID display screen.

Try more conservative RAM settings in BIOS.

The BIOS is recent enough not to care whether your HDD is UDMA66/100. It will use it at UDMA33 without requiring the downgrade to UDMA33.

good morning.

Tonight i was tested all my bios model.

All this was the same result, when i go to copy or move a directory big (30 or 40 mb) the pc hang up and reset with a cache or vmm error.

at last, i put in bios a 6240117a.bin, with a particular issue, (6240118a.bin crash).

it has the same number that my original bios: i440bx-w977tf-6240-vh and when i copy a directory it hang up, but dont reset the pc.

i am comparing .bin files with a hex editor.

i dont know what more i can do.

if anybody know any more, i will do it.

thanks to all by help me.

Tried to lower memory timings to less aggressive numbers ?
Tried to use a different IDE cable ?
Is your new HDD cooled in some way to prevent overheating especially if it's a 7200rpm drive ?
Maybe your PSU is to weak to support your new HDD ? > is it possible to monitor the voltages from the PSU with motherboard monitor or similar programs ?
