Sure it's "...MD..."? Sure about the "D"?

Do you have its manual, or is there anything printed on the motherboard that might identify it?

What's the BIOS message? It's further up, on the same screen you found the BIOS ID.

It helps in as much identifying the maker: MSI/Microstar. Now for some info and a bios update if one exists...

Cheers - at least I know who made it now and I know I can't do anything with it.

Thanks for the help.

What did you want the upgrade for ?

Bios cannot be patched for larger disk support. Maximum size is 8GB!

Hmm. SO it's "guess what BIOS is compatible" time.

I just tried to put a 545 Mb Seagate drive into my niece's ICL machine - too big....BIOS doesn't recognise anything over 1024x15x63

NickS: I think you better start a new thread on that one so we can see what we can dig up.

Wanted to see if the board would accept a PIII - that's all.

No point - I have the last BIOS. I was just making the point (not very clearly) that some people are lucky to be stuck with 8 Gb !
