for performance reasons I need to disable ACPI and NOT use IRQ sharing as recommended by my software & hardware vendors. However my PhoenixBIOS 4.0 v6 for my sony viao laptop (pcg-srx77p) does not have this option. I actual found out in order for them to get microsoft seal of approval they can't have a ACPI disable option in BIOS! I think that is so bogus.
Is there anyway around this, I found some motherboards have "unofficial" versions that add ACPI control. However I have a sony laptop odds are there isn't a special bios version available. Sony doesn't offer much computer support, I checked there is only one BIOS version available which is the original one.
I don't know what to do, I have WinXP setup as "standard PC" instead of "ACPI" but this doesnt matter since my BIOS still uses ACPI and shares 10 of my devices on IRQ9.
Disabling ACPI in BIOS
The IRQs MUST be shared. How would you assign 4 free IRQs to 10 devices? It does not have any effect on performance.
