Hi

Have searched for answers but resorted to posting in hope.

Recently moved house and fear my workstation doesnt like the new place :)

Power on and the graphics card registers on screen and then the bios logo appears and powers off!

The point of power off is not always the same, sometimes the bios logo doesnt appear.

I have started at the root of the possibilities working from power source to the bios. Have removed memory and cleaned and checked heatsink and fan. I am no bios expert but I think I am right in saying it has been through the power checks and has moved on to loading the bios rom?

Any advice and help greatly appreciated.

ok, have since worked out that this is maybe a POST problem, as when I remove all memory, I dont get the graphics card message, which again my guesstamation, says that the memory is checked in POST before the graphics card. So this means that the only items left that I assume could cause the issue in POST are the processor and rom bios or cmos? How do I find out which is having the hiccup?

back to the swearing and temper tantrums!

A bit of fiddling with the cpu and it has resolved, appears the move may have dislodged the chip from its 'happy spot'!?!

anyway I am tentatively working again, although I fear impending doom a of black screen and that sound of the traction beam powering down!

I have learnt something about bios boot POST and moving house!

Hope my waffleings help someone else in need.
