Hi,

I am trying to upgrade my ASUS PT55TP4N based motherboard from 128MB (4x32MB 72 SIMMs) to 256MB (4x64MB 72pin SIMMs)
.
This board has a 430FX intel chipset, with a 64MB cachable RAM limitiation, but has worked fine for many years with 128MB (4x32MB).

SO, when i put in the new 4x64MB sticks, the BIOS only recognized 32MB. Linux was able to boot up fine, but my win2k installation immediately became totally and irreversibly corrupted and will require a re-install of course :(

I already have a 128MB hard disk patch on my BIOS, done by Edwin 2years ago :) http://www.wimsbios.net/phpBB2/viewtopi ... 3593#13593

The questions i need answered hopefully are:
Am I up truely up against a physical hardware limitation ?
*** OR **** can this be fixed by a BIOS patch, and if so, can someone please patch it for me so I can use all 256MB (4x64MB) memory ???
*** OR *** should I return the memory and live with my previous 128MB ?

New-style code found at 12090

Many Thanks for any help or comments !!!
