adding 256 ram but ....

want to add 256mb but says i need to update my bios here is the info i have


program : unicore BIOS agent ver 1.8
BIOS date : 07/05/00
Bios type : phoenixBIOS 4.0 release 6.0
BIOS ID : 31511.EM.0000.D.0007052014
chipset : intel whitney 82810 rev 3
superio : ITE 8702 REV 5 FOUND AT PORT 2Eh

originally had 256 wanted to add 256 more for 512 but wont let me

Open the case and check the motherboard for "Cognac" for the 667ix or "Anaheim" for the 667ir marking. Info is here:

We need more info, even if that means opening the box. Is it an eMachines system ?

yes it is an emachine 633 have no clue on anything else but if u tell me where to look i will look for it thanks bye

Take a look at http://www.e4all.info. That should help you find out whether it's a Trigem Cognac or Cognac+ motherboard, among other things.
Tested patched BIOSes. Untested patched BIOSes.
