I have an eMachines T6000, running PC3200 DDR RAM. It came with a 512mb stick.

hoping to make my system run 1.5gb ram, I recently bought a 1gb stick. But when both sticks are in and I turn on the PC, it won't boot up and the motherboard keeps beeping. But when only one of either stick is in, it boots up fine.

I have two slots for memory and supposed to be 2gb max, so I'm not sure why it's not working. I was told the problem has to do with timings and I have to fix it bios, but in my bios, there is no chipset option!

Please help! What can I do? Thanks very much in advance!

eMAchines uses "2 Banks of One" for the Ram, if you have a 512mb stick in one, the other has to be 512mb also. Same goes if it is 128mb and you want more than 512mb (adding another 128mb) you will have to toss the 128mb and buy 2 of the same mb. 1gb in 1 bank and 1gb in the other bank.
