My IBM Thinkpad 600E (type 2645) has 32mb of onboard memory. I recently installed two 128mb/pc100 chips. Buy only 164mb is recognized. To mess around, I removed a 128mb chip out of bank 2, and left a 128 in bank 1, laptop only recognizes 32mb onboard memory. I also tried installing a 64mb/pc66 chip in bank 1, it is still not recognized. This laptop is supposed to recognize up to 288mb of ram. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Do I have a bad memory bank? I ran a memory test in the bios which concluded that everything was o.k.. I am at a loss as to what to do next, if there is anything I can do. Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. I also removed all power sources during attempted upgrades.

Thanks

make sure you updated the bios ,and check the ram retainer lug properly pushes and holds the ram downwards, check that ram pins are not severed or bent, maybe ram are incompatable to ea other with onboard ram,hex edit bios to disable 32mb ram and go for 256 mb?
thats all i can think of
