hey there
pls forgive this posibly newbie question...

i'm running XP pro on a Celeron 800MHZ, with 2X 64MB SDram. today i tried to upgrade to one stick of 256MB SDRAM - but although the BIOS seemed to recoginse it - windows wouldnt do it - even when it did manage to load - it restsrted itself as soon as it finished laoding....

is this machine not capabale of running 256?? its not an old machine, so i doubt it.... i have downlaoded the Intel Identify Utility, and am pasting the results here, maybe it will mean something to you folks :)

The CPU does not matter. What board do you have?

Might be DFI CM33-EC. Post BIOS ID string (see FAQ).

Does not look like CM33-EC - it has 11/02/2001-601-686A-6A6LID49C-00. But anyway, it should support 256MB DIMMs. Maybe the new module is faulty - get GoldMemory to test it http://www.goldmemory.cz

thanks for this. looking at it now.
in the meantime - i have looked at dfi.com.cw and have found a CM33-EC on their site, and have been looking at their manual.

looks like it may be it, but really not sure.

thanks again, and if you have any more ideas - i'm here!
