I have 2x 256Mb ddr266Mhz. When i put both on my hp pavillion ze5170, after 10 - 20 mins, the system will crash, system error. But when i only put 1x 256mb ddr266Mhz and tried it on each ram slot, the system is stable but then slower because of low ram. I verified it using memtest v1.65. Anybody has an idea??

Need advise..

thank you.

did you (mem-)test it with both sticks, too? do both sticks have the same timings? you can read them out with cpu-z. maybe the ALi chipset isn't able to set different timings for different ram slots (just guessing. no datasheets available, sorry).

I checked the both sticks using cpu-z --> it has same timings. But one my mainboard is detected as ze4000 instead of ze5170. Why is this so, any ideas?

Thanks
