I think my problem with running bios patcher was that the name of the bios file was BIOS.ROM. That name causes bios patcher problems. By renaming the bios file to a different name the patcher ran properly.

I'm not sure what I did different but now the bios patcher program is working, just like it did for Rainbow. This weekend I'll try the new BIOS on my wife's computer and see if it'll run with the new processor. Thanks to all for helping!

I tried patching in a DOS box while running Win98SE. Obviously I'm doing something wrong! Should I not be running Windows, just straight DOS?

Nick, I cannot duplicate your actions; I'm still getting the same out-of-space error messages when I run bios_patcher. Where did you obtain your bios file? I got mine from www.hp.com after submitting "Pavillion 9680C" as input. The downloaded file, kest_116.exe, is a self-extracting program which cr...

The version of BIOS_Patcher that I ran was BP-4rc_C since that's was Rainbow listed in earlier post regarding my P2B BIOS and making it compatible with my Tualatin 1.4 GHz processor. It's not clear to me what are the differences between BP-4rc_C and BP-4rc71. (Is one's a beta?)

The other question I have is it doesn't appear that BIOS_Patcher is able to add any additional CPU support (see items 1 and 11). Is this due to the out-of-space condition? Thanks for all the input.

The error out-of-space messages were in addition to the report.txt file. Here's the report.txt file when runnng the BIOS_Patcher. The program doesn't run to completion forcing me to kill it. Tualatin processor not recoginized by HP Pavillion 9680C

My wife's HP Pavillion 9680C which has an ASUS Kestral mainboard is running with a PIII 650 (100 MHz FSB). I tried Powerleap's 1.4 GHz Celeron CPU upgrade but the computer hung immediately without displaying any messages. Here's the output from BIOS_patcher with /e option: BIOS_Patcher ver. 4.0_RC.C...

Right on! BIOS error message is now gone! Thank you!! I do have one question. In item 6 below what is the problem and how do you request the fix for it? Here's the report output from BIOS_patcher: BIOS_Patcher ver. 4.0_RC.C from "Second_Hope utils". Warning! Recommended for power-users! Found 2Mbit ...

VCORE voltage is correct

I'm using a Powerleap product (PL-iP3/T) which has it's own power regulator. It's configured to deliver 1.5 volts. I've also tried with a small boost to 1.55 volts with no improvement.

ASUS P2B BIOS 1014.003 not recognizing Tualatin processor

I have an ASUS P2B Rev. 1.02 mainboard that I'm trying to upgrade to a Celeron Tualatin 1.4 GHz processor. Its CPU ID is 6B4. Unfortunately the highest processor ID the last BIOS that ASUS released for the P2B (1014 beta 3) only recoginizes is 6B1 which is an older stepping of the 1.4 GHz Celeron. D...

I have a 1.4 Ghz Powerleap CPU upgrade processor who's stepping (4) is not included in the most recent ASUS P2B BIOS (1014.003). My processor's CPUID is 6B4. Has anyone been able to update this BIOS with an additional CPU microcode update so that the BIOS is compatible with my processor?

Thanks.
