Re: Option ROM loaded but no boot device

Hello, IIRC I've never tried the BCV solution for booting. Therefore, I don't know how exactly it should behave. Anyway, have you read the PnP BIOS Boot Specification (search with Google, it should be available freely). I think the spec explains about the ES:DI parameters you're looking for right no...

Re: Help needed, copy a BIOS option from one AMI BIOS to another

The same chipset and CPU support doesn't guarantee that both motherboard are identical in terms of overclocking . You have to make sure the clock-generator chip used in both boards are the same before even trying this mod. Moreover, the feature that you want is not coded in the Option ROM, but it's ...

Re: Reg Bios Runtime calls

The only possibility is through "ACPI routine calls". But, that doesn't mean the OS is communicating with the BIOS. It's only with the ACPI implementation in the BIOS. Another possibility is with the BIOS32 "PCI directory services". I'm not sure about the latter, it's probably already abandoned. But...

Re: UEFI System Table and Award BIOS DLL module

I found the answer after reversing the BIOS binary for almost two days. I summarized the result at: Pinczakko's Guide to Reversing Award BIOS DLL Support Regarding the data structure pointer passed to the DLL module. It's a pointer to data structure in the stack of the entry point function in the HT...

UEFI System Table and Award BIOS DLL module

Has anyone reversed DLL module(s) in recent Award BIOS? The module is passed with a single 32-bit parameter. It's obvious that this parameter is a pointer to a data structure. However, I couldn't find the correct data structure until now. Because I think most of these DLLs are shared between legacy ...

Re: Need Intel BIOS Editor

Perhaps what you need is the Intel Integrator Toolkit?

There is a FAQ about it at:

AMI BIOS Reverse Engineering Article

My AMI BIOS Reverse Engineering article is available online now: http://sites.google.com/site/pinczakko/pinczakko-s-guide-to-ami-bios-reverse-engineering-1 Might want to read it  Anyway, it's much more condensed than the Award BIOS RE article. Well, this is part of my English book. I decided t...

I'm not sure about the structure of the BIOS code. Perhaps, the following hint can help you: 1. There's a jump table in most BIOS which is used to call all of the Power-On Self Test (POST) routines. You can start there. 2. One of the jump table entry points to routines to initialize expansion card. ...

Hello stripwax,

Your work seems to be very interesting. IIRC, the biosgfx was owned by Anton Borisov. I'll ask him if he still keep the code around or perhaps has an updated version.

The Award BIOS Reverse Engineering Article - [relocated]

The Award BIOS Reverse Engineering article has been relocated to new site because Yahoo Geocities will be closed about a month away. The new URL is: Pinczakko's Guide to Award BIOS Reverse Engineering . I have redirected the old page in Geocities into the new page. Anyway, dear moderator(s), if you ...

There is a slight mistake in the URL for the updates on the book. This is the right one: http://darmawan-salihun.blogspot.com/20 ... embly.html

Sorry for the inconvenience.

PS: I didn't realize it long ago and I haven't been in the forum for a while.
